What is Go Hunt?

Go Hunt is Gallaxia Studio's location-based augmented reality game: the treasure hunt moves out of a virtual map and into the street you are actually standing on. Real cities become the arena, and prizes are hidden in AR chests you find through your phone camera.

The Pokémon GO comparison#

The studio itself reaches for Pokémon GO as the reference point, and it is a fair one for the format: you move through the real world, your phone shows you things that are not there, and being in the right physical place is the core mechanic.

The difference is what you are hunting. Where Pokémon GO rewards you with creatures and progression, Go Hunt is built around the same real-world prize model as the rest of the Gallaxia lineup — you race other players to AR chests holding prizes that exist off your phone.

What that changes about how you play#

A location-based game with genuine prizes on the line has a competitive dimension that a collection game does not. If chests are contested and the reward is real, then proximity, timing, and knowing your own city stop being flavour and start being advantages.

It also raises practical questions the studio has not answered publicly yet — how dense the chest coverage is outside major cities chief among them.

What we do not know yet#

• How chests are distributed, and whether rural players are at a disadvantage.
• Whether prizes use the Lootbag Wallet system from Planet-X.
• How the game handles safety and trespassing, an issue every location-based game eventually faces.
• Any release window or beta plans.
